Fairview’s Shane Williams, along with Colorado Academy’s Nico Water, who both won state championships at Weidner Field on May 1, however, actually find that the shorter offseason has helped them entering this fall, rather than fatiguing them.
“We had a little less than a month off from training,” added Williams, who shut out Cherry Creek, 2-0, in the Class 5A state title game in the spring. “One of the things that really helped us last season is that we never stopped training. We were training from June [2020] until the season started in March [2021].”
